Vanished

Vanished by Meg Cabot is a very thrilling book. It is a mixture of mystery, romance and adventure. In the book The main character, Jess gets struck with lightning and as a result she is able to locate any missing persons whereabouts by seeing them in a picture and then sleeping. Throughout the book I am constantly thinking is this a gift or a curse?

Putting popularity and award money aside with this power you will be a true hero. You have the opportunity to change peoples lives- for the better- involuntarily. I also feel that this power would be especially be cool because it gives you the opportunity to touch so many peoples lives. So why wouldn't you automatically want to have this power?

With great opportunity comes great responsibility. By having this power Jess is often faced with the choice of choosing a road in the dark. She simply has no idea whether the person being penetrated has chosen to disappear for a completely vlid reason. For example she thought she was doing the right thing by saving this boy Sean but he was running away because his father was abusive and he had legal custody over the child.

I personally would not seize the opportunity to take this burden. I feel like it is not a specific persons job to hold the lives of many people on their shoulders. I feel that the guilt of mistakes on it would be with you for your whole life and whatever you do their will be people telling you that you made the wrong decision.
